Services

Over the years Causapscal's civic infrastructure has developed considerably. The town's city hall now has conference rooms to accommodate large assemblies, as well as small meetings. Across from the city hall is the town's fire station.

The Cultural Center serves as a multifunctional facility. The center consists of: a performance venue with a capacity for 500 people; a library which transforms itself into a wonderful exposition hall during the summer. The center is also home to several cultural organizations including l'Harmonie St-Jacques, le Chœur de la Bonne Humeur, le Centre d'artisanat.

Causapscal's CLSC (medicine clinic) offers many services related to health and community life. The town's business sector provides modern services of all types, performed by professional and accommodating personal.

As Causapscal is the center of tourism in the Matapedia valley it offers such services as a tourist information office, a camp ground, and a museum (Matamajaw historical site). It is La Maison du Gardien (The Guards House) that houses the tourism development corporation, Faucus inc., The CGRMP (the salmon fishing administering association for the Matapédia and Patapédia rivers), and CERF (the wildlife and environmental protection association)

Causapscal's recreational park includes children's games, tennis courts, and picnic areas. Some popular activities include hiking on the many designated walking paths, bicycling, hand-gliding, golfing, and visiting the numerous panoramic viewing spots. Winter activities such as skating and downhill skiing complement the year round possibilities to enjoy outdoor activities.

The people of Causapscal, or Causapscalians, are known for their authenticity and warm hospitality. For over a hundred years, visitors have enjoyed Causapscal's friendly atmosphere.

As well as having a primary and secondary school, Causapscal also has a forestry school, where students are taught a personalized curriculum by expert teachers. With the aid of up to date equipement, and the proper location for experimentation students are assured of a specialized training program. The school a part of Matapedia Collegial Studies Center.

Causapscal, a unique town

Causapscal is a town with a population of 2 623 inhabitants. The local economy is based on lumber, agriculture and tourism.

Causapscal's future was established at the end of the nineteenth century, with the construction of the Intercontinental Railway. The main link with the industrial centers made the region more accessible and encouraged the booming wood industry. Lord Mount Stephen's fishing domain attracted members of British, American and Canadian high-society. Later sold and renamed The Matamajaw Salmon Club, the domain is now a protected historical site.Even today, salmon fishing is the main tourist attraction of the Matapedia valley.Causapscal, une ville au visage unique.
